Then, when you open the throttle, it has to reverse direction one more time. absolutely correct : If they were in the location you mentioned, then the momentum of the air would keep going towards the intake manifold. that's what we want to try and maintain : Of course, the mass of air is almost nothing, so the difference is probably not measurable. 15PSI is pretty substantial...consider that compared to tire pressure.
